Pediatric Assistive Technology

At the Child Development and Rehabilitation Center, we are dedicated to supporting all children in participating in age appropriate communication, mobility, play, and literacy activities. For children with complex communication and physical needs, this often involves thoughtful evaluation of strengths and challenges in order to recommend appropriate assistive technology equipment. We can assess your child’s needs and recommend specialized equipment, services and therapy according to their specific needs, to assist in their communication, positioning, mobility, and environmental control. Ask your child’s doctor for a referral if your child requires any of our services.

Depending on their needs, your child will receive expert care from our multi-specialty team of providers, including speech and language pathologists, physical therapists, occupational therapists and equipment experts. Specific team members will be scheduled based on needs identified at referral.

You and your child will receive services focused on evaluating the need for and supporting use of the following:

  • Communication devices
  • Mobility equipment (e.g., customized wheelchairs, walkers, standers)
  • Positioning equipment
  • Adapted toys
  • Adapted books
