SoD Research Day

The School of Dentistry is excited about Research Day 2025! Check back here for event updates. This event serves as a platform to exhibit research endeavors undertaken by School of Dentistry students, post-doctoral fellows, faculty, and staff.

Poster Tips

  • The preferred poster size is 48 in. width x 36 in. height. The poster paper roll is 36 inches across, so one of your poster dimensions needs to be 36 inches.
  • Keep the poster mostly white with some color. Color-heavy posters take longer and more resources to print.
  • PowerPoint, view your poster at 400% magnification. It will give you a better idea of how your graphics will look when printed in the large format.

Please feel free to reach out to the Office of Research at SoD Research with any questions.

The School of Dentistry proudly marked another successful Research Day on March 7, 2024, showcasing 58 diverse research projects by students, post-doc fellows, faculty, and staff. Under the leadership of Dr. Hui Wu, Associate Dean for Research, the Office of Research orchestrated the event, supported clinically by Drs. Yifan Zhang, Samyia Chaudry, and Christina Truong.

This platform provided an invaluable opportunity to spotlight the dental community's research endeavors, with particular emphasis on Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) as a significant scientific breakthrough. Esteemed keynote speakers, Dr. David Huang and Dr. Alireza Sadr, shared their profound insights into OCT's development and its clinical implications in dentistry.

Dr. Huang, a pioneer in applying laser and optical technology to eye diseases, highlighted the significance of OCT in ophthalmic imaging. With numerous accolades and over 350 peer-reviewed articles to his name, Dr. Huang's keynote address underscored the transformative potential of OCT technology.

Dr. Sadr, renowned for his innovations in dental OCT, emphasized its role in noninvasive diagnosis of dental diseases. His research contributions, totaling $3 million, have significantly advanced the field. As an accomplished author and recipient of the Bayne Midcareer Award, Dr. Sadr's presentation highlighted the practical applications of OCT in restorative dentistry.
