About me

I’m an orthopedic surgeon specializing in adult hip and knee care, including joint replacement and complex reconstructive surgery. 

I help patients who are living with:

  • Arthritis
  • Joint pain
  • Instability
  • Other conditions that affect mobility and comfort

My goal is to improve your quality of life by helping you achieve your functional goals and stay active in the activities you enjoy.

I provide both non-surgical and surgical care. Whenever possible, I work with you to avoid surgery through conservative treatments, but when joint replacement or revision surgery is necessary, I aim to offer safe, effective procedures backed by the latest evidence. 

I want my patients to feel empowered to participate in their care plans, and I take time to explain your diagnosis and options in clear, understandable language so you can make informed decisions.

I’m dedicated to helping patients restore or maintain a healthy, active lifestyle, whether that’s walking comfortably, returning to travel or enjoying time with family and friends. It’s an honor to support you through every step of your hip or knee care journey.

(I say this as this will be my 2nd knee replacement and have at least some knowledge/experience with this kind of surgery.) She discussed the surgery in a calm, matter-of fact manner that gave me great confidence in her skills.

  21. Dr. Schabel entered the room and carried a wave of professionalism and competence with her. The most notable thing about her presence, though, is she genuinely seemed to care. She touched my shoulder and made me feel like everything was going to be ok. It was a small gesture, but it meant a lot to me. It was the first time someone was reassuring or truly comforting in this process. It was APPRECIATED.

  22. I felt like I was well-informed before the surgery and well cared for as I headed into the operating room. Afterwards, the doctor came and let me know how things had gone and what to expect in the coming weeks so that I left well prepared.
