About me

I am an orthopedic physician assistant who cares for people before, during and after surgery.

I enjoy working in orthopedics because I get to help people become more mobile and comfortable, and I value making meaningful connections with my patients. It is incredibly satisfying to see patients return to movement after injury or illness.

A lifelong Oregonian, I love spending time outdoors. Some of my favorite activities include hiking, skiing and surfing. I also enjoy gardening.

Insurance

Before scheduling an appointment

  1. Check your network. If you have health insurance,  call your company to find out if the OHSU Health location or provider you plan to visit is part of your network.
  2. Ask what you will pay. Your insurance company can tell you what your costs are likely to be.

If you schedule an appointment and your health insurance does not include OHSU Health, you may have to pay more than if you go to a provider in your insurance network.

Visit our billing and insurance page for more information.

  1. Thoughtful, thorough, listened well, and collaborative with me.

  2. Very thorough, explained thing well

  3. Very friendly great atmosphere

  4. Jacey was terrific! She gave me bad news, Bo knee surgery this year, but she tempered that with plans for different shots for my knees that sound very promising. Jacey is a great person, I love working with her. She always treats me great, gives me good and bad news straight, couldn't ask for more.

  5. Person centered. Took time to understand me as a person, including my history with my knees (ie lifestyle across the lifespan). Patient. She took her time to review scans, was interactive with the scans to ensure I understood, and asked me if I had questions- which she genuinely listened to. Excellent provider.

  6. Dr. Schwantes is reliable and respectful.

  21. Jaycee Walrod (sp?) was excellent PA. Professional, heard what I said and directly addressed my questions and comments. I am extremely pleased with my visit with her as my first step in the orthopedic clinic, pun intended. I think I'll need knee replacement surgery but not quite yet and she did an excellent job of explaining every detail and outlining all the things I can and should be doing between now and surgery, if that becomes necessary
