About me

Dr. Erin Foster is a medical dermatologist with a special interest in complex skin disorders such as autoimmune blistering diseases, oral and vulvar dermatology.

Dr. Erin Foster believes that her patients know more than she does about their skin, because they see it every day. She approaches clinical care with the goal of developing relationships based on mutual trust and working together toward health. Her research focuses on vulvovaginal mucosal conditions, shared decision making with patients, and the immunological basis of skin disease.

When she’s not working, Dr. Foster is hiking, biking, reading fiction, baking, or spending time with family. A native Texan, she loves Portland summers and Mt. Hood winters. She feels lucky every day to live in the beautiful Pacific Northwest!

Insurance

Before scheduling an appointment

  1. Check your network. If you have health insurance,  call your company to find out if the OHSU Health location or provider you plan to visit is part of your network.
  2. Ask what you will pay. Your insurance company can tell you what your costs are likely to be.

If you schedule an appointment and your health insurance does not include OHSU Health, you may have to pay more than if you go to a provider in your insurance network.

Visit our billing and insurance page for more information.

  1. She listens. She is personable AND knowledgeable.

  2. Very good, appreciate her concern, her patience, her explanion of everything to me.

  3. She is wonderful. Very thorough. Very easy to talk too and ask questions and get answers.

  4. Very thorough, did not rush, answered my questions

  5. Dr. Foster goes above and beyond. I feel I can trust her (which is huge for me) and she is very willing to assist me in getting care that is tangentially related to dermatology since I explained a lack of assistance from my primary care provider. I am one being with many issues to deal with to be able to function with some semblance of contentment; she's the only provider to see the big picture and to discuss options with me.

  6. Dr. Foster is just the best. She takes all the time necessary and really listens.

  7. I had to wait some because my doctor was running late. I don't find that a problem because she tries to meet our needs and sometimes that takes more time. Actually I'd gladly wait hours to get her care!

  8. Dr. Foster is very down to earth and respectful which is a great bonus with a clinician who is also as knowledgeable as they come. I appreciated her expertise and willingness to spend as much time as needed despite having a lot of other patients to see. The appointments should be scheduled for longer in order to allow her to do her job.

  9. I was made very comfort and the concern for my expectations with excellent.

  10. My doctor was very helpful and friendly by helping me to understand everything. She did a great job.

  11. Very attentive to my needs/questions/requests. I feel very at ease with Dr. Foster.

  12. Physician was about an hour late for my appointment. At first I was disturbed by this, but during my visit with her I realized that she takes the time to listen to all my concerns. She is very personable and she LISTENS! I did not feel rushed and appreciated that about her. I look forward to meeting with her again. Next time I will not schedule anything after my appointment in case she runs late again.

  13. She was professional, friendly and informative. Excellent care.

  14. The clinician was absolutely amazing, one of the best I have ever seen. She took ample time with me, listened and changed some of my treatment plan according to my observations. She was compassionate, knowledgeable and made me feel very comfortable and cared for.

  15. My specialist is so friendly and caring. She remembers my history and even asks about my family. She researches new treatments and really listens.

  16. Nice doctor very professional!

  17. Friendly, thorough, knowledgeable efficient

  18. Very correct diagnosis the clinician was very understanding and knew how to treat my several skin conditions

  19. Dr. Foster is clearly genuine with her interactions with me since I first met her. She is very personable but more importantly one of the best Dr your organization has to offer!

  20. Dr Foster is a godsend!!! I saw numerous doctors and not one was able to help me, except Dr. Foster. I'm so grateful for Dr. Foster and will forever be a dedicated fan!!!

  21. I adore Dr. Foster! Along with being brilliant, she is one of the kindest, most caring physicians I have ever met. Another outstanding attribute is that she is well-prepared for appointments, which I greatly appreciate. She has reviewed my previous appointment, and is up to date on my latest lab work. Many doctors look at that information after they come into the appointment. The difference is quite obvious.

  22. Dr. Foster and team were very thorough and kind. She answered my questions and reassured me that her recommendations were just recommendations and that I was the one most knowledgeable about my body. She encouraged me to do my own research on her recommendations and to reach out for questions. I felt that she genuinely cared about what I was going through.

  23. Excellent attention to details very compassionate

  24. Wonderful! Knowledgeable! Compassionate!

  25. Excellent

  26. She is knowledgeable, caring, and listens to my questions.

  27. Dr. Erin Foster is an amazing Doctor. As someone with a significant history of PTSD, it is vital for my health and wellbeing to have a Provider who is trained in Trauma Informed Care. Dr. Foster is very familiar with Trauma Informed Care and made me feel safe in my visit and under her care, which is so important to me. She is patient when I needed a little extra time to process through everything. She gave me extra time during my vulvar exam; she told me everything she was going to do before doing it and she made sure to ask me if "x was okay" to do prior to doing anything (which is so necessary when you have experienced a trauma that took away your sense of control). She did not make me feel worse than I already feel for needing a little extra handling. Her mottos is "it's your body and you get to decide what happens to it" -- and she means this! She is collaborative when it comes to my care, she does not tell me what to do or what to take or anything. She makes recommendations and asks what I think of those recommendations, and she lets me decide. She does not get upset if I say "no" to any of her recommendations. SHE IS AMAZING!

  28. Listened, was an excellent teacher for the resident she was attending, empathic, warm

  30. Empathetic understanding my issues very knowledgeable and helpful in accessing my options
