About me
I’m a surgical oncologist who specializes in the care of patients with abdominal cancers:
- Colon cancer
- Liver cancer
- Appendix cancer
- Stomach cancer
- Peritoneal cancer
- Ovarian cancer
- Gastrointestinal cancer
- Neuroendocrine tumors
I have a particular focus on cancers that have spread (metastatic). I have expertise in using HIPEC surgery to treat several types of cancer.
I partner with you to manage your cancer. I work as part of a team of specialists to support all aspects of your care, paying attention to your goals. It is a unique privilege to work with cancer patients every day. This is why I chose to become a cancer surgeon and what drives me to provide top-quality care.
My research focuses on using biomarkers (signs of possible cancer) to improve our understanding of who will benefit most from which treatments. I am interested in designing more inclusive clinical trials to make sure all patients have better access to advanced technology and treatments.
I grew up in Minnesota and have lived all over the country. I moved to Portland with my husband, also an OHSU doctor. Together with our son and our golden retriever, we enjoy hiking throughout the Pacific Northwest. I am an avid sports fan and expert yogi, and I love to bake and travel.

Before scheduling an appointment
- Check your network. If you have health insurance, call your company to find out if the OHSU Health location or provider you plan to visit is part of your network.

If you schedule an appointment and your health insurance does not include OHSU Health, you may have to pay more than if you go to a provider in your insurance network.

Kind, compassionate and knowledgeable
Dr. Sood answered all my questions and was a good listener. She's kind and respectful.
Caring, clear and compassionate
Very good everything, but no one is perfect
Very good!
Awesome
Started out wanting me to explain in my own words which I greatly appreciate. Was well prepared by reviewing my file and CT scan. It was great she had a scribe so she could pay attention to our convo. I appreciate her thoroughness, physical exam and bedside manner very much. I would recommend her.
She was extremely intelligent and well versed in my specific case. She obviously had read all the cancer related notes which made us feel confident in her ability to discuss my potential best treatment scenarios. She wanted to know my overall understanding of my cancer. She wants her patients to be full participants in current understanding and presentation of the cancer and linking that into the potential best case scenarios going forward.
Dr. Sood is very knowledgeable and easy to communicate with.
Good!!
Due to the nature of my health challenge I hope I never need to recommend but if needed I would definitely.
Always professional and compassionate. Made difficult situation easier to deal with! Highly recommend Dr Sood!
Very helpful and care
Great communicstion
Outstanding (good!) level of focus, concern, and appropriate care provided throughout my interaction with Dr Sood and staff
Fantastic experience. Felt very confident in her expertise and compassion.
Very polite and friendly. Discussed issues thoroughly in easy to understand language
She is the best. I have terminal cancer and I should not be here on earth. Countless surgeons told me I was inoperable. Dr Sood proved them wrong.
Caring, clear and concise. I sometimes find it difficult to understand clinicians when they are wering masks. I understand wehy they are necessary, but mss seeing the docter's face. Especially the first time I meet her.
Thorough, professional, very knowledgeable. Explained the situation and options extremely well.
Always nice
Caring, intelligent and explains things nicely.
I absolutely love Dr.Sood she saved my life literally, finding and removing my cancerous appendix saved my life. Thank you Dr. Sood.
This was my first visit with Dr. Sood who is taking over case management from Dr. Gilbert. Dr. Sood had reviewed my case history, made sure I understood everything, and took time to listen. Overall this first experience with her was great... She is warm, caring, and and an excellent communicator. I feel very comfortable having her take over my case.
