Imaging

Imaging is a way to see inside your body, do tests and treat some conditions. It’s part of a branch of medicine called radiology.

When you have imaging at OHSU, you’ll find:

  • Caring experts who put your safety and comfort first
  • Radiologists and technologists who specialize in one or more types of imaging
  • State-of-the-art technology, including PET/MRI and full-body X-ray machines
  • Locations in Portland, Beaverton and Scappoose
  • A 24-hour team that often provides results in one or two days
  • Help with insurance approval

Imaging we provide

PET/MRI: Our scanner is the only one in Oregon. It combines two types of imaging – PET and MRI – for a more accurate diagnosis.

MRI: We have expertise in MRI scans for patients with implants that use electricity or other outside power.

CT: We provide advanced scans for the heart, brain, lungs and colon.

Ultrasound and vascular ultrasound: We have expertise in ultrasound for complex conditions.

X-ray and fluoroscopy: We provide X-rays with short waits and fast results at five locations.

Nuclear medicine (molecular imaging and therapy): We diagnose and treat cancer and brain, heart, thyroid and neuroendocrine conditions.

Pediatric imaging: We provide scans tailored to babies, children and teens.

Breast imaging: We provide mammograms, breast ultrasound and breast MRI. We use ultrasound, MRI and X-ray to guide tests for breast cancer (biopsy).
