About me
I am a physician assistant at the OHSU Spine Center. I specialize in spine care and orthopedic trauma, providing comprehensive support throughout your entire treatment journey. I treat patients who are:
- Preparing for surgery
- Recovering from a procedure
- Managing a traumatic injury
I work closely with our trauma, spine, upper extremity and sports medicine surgeons, which allows me to provide coordinated care before, during and after surgery. I manage preoperative visits, assist in the operating room, see patients in the hospital and follow your progress through postoperative recovery in the clinic. This comprehensive approach means I understand your full story and can help ensure the best possible outcomes.
I believe in educating my patients in a straightforward, matter-of-fact way by explaining your condition, treatment options and care instructions in terminology you can understand. I take your concerns seriously, listen carefully to what matters most to you and work patiently with you even when aspects of the treatment plan feel challenging. My goal is to help you feel informed, supported and confident about your recovery.
In my free time, I enjoy spending time with friends and family, cheering on the Trailblazers, hiking, cross-country skiing and attending live musical performances.

I have a lot of respect for Tania and her experience with the surgeon!
It was good.
Very knowledgeable and personable. Understood fears and concerns and dealt with them well in his explanations.
Was very knowledgeable about my surgery. I understood her clearly about instructions of my care.
Tannia Fleming handled has handled my case and my appointment with professionalism and compassion. Her instructions and recommendations were clear and given in terminology I can understand. I felt initial resistance to parts of the treatment plan (i.e., continued wearing of the neck brace), and she was patient with me and helped me see the reasons for it. I look forward to my next appointment with her.
Dr Fleming was EXTREMELY knowledgeable, very kind and answered all of our questions. She gave us a clear path to expect for care and treatment possibilities.
Tania Fleming is just amazing . She Answered all my questions and went into great detail on all my options I was concerned about . Her knowledge is vast and I'm glad I got to see her .OHSU is very lucky to have such a wonderful , caring , and knowledgeable person on their team . And so am I .
This clinician is a PA. I & my adult children cannot have an interactive conversation with her. She required being listened to. She presented as not having knowledge of the physical consequences as one recovering from this type of back surgery & its location. This was an isolated experience for me. I've had very positive experience with all other professionals that have cared for me at OHSU.
Tanya was great. She was professional, to my concerns seriously and had an xray done to find out. When she confirmed my thought about my spine above my fusion was failing, she gave me his information about possible options my surgeon would suggest. She has me take a neck brace to see if that helped. Ordered a CT so the surgeon could decide if he wanted to expand my future neck surgery to include this additional area. She was great.
Very concerned with the issues are having and making available to other medical care physicians
Tannia quickly understood what I am most interested in and asked questions that made it easier for me to get to the heart of the matter.
I particularly appreciate my PA, Tonya Fleming. She has a great way of educating a patient in a matter of fact fashion, not condescending or overly solicitous like many health care workers
