About me

Dr. Patrick Sheppard is an internal medicine doctor who treats all conditions that affect adults, offering patient diagnosis, education and counseling, and medication management. He has special interests in LGBTQ+ health and gender-affirming care. He believes in the importance of listening to patients to understand their health care goals, and in providing them with the tools and knowledge they need to meet those goals and live healthy, happy, full lives. He is also involved in medical education and enjoys working with medical students and residents.

Dr. Sheppard has a love for the outdoors and enjoys hiking and camping in the beautiful Pacific Northwest with his dog and husband. He plays recreational soccer, enjoys going to the gym and loves to cook, particularly with fresh vegetables from his own garden. He feels grateful to be in Portland where he can do all this while enjoying the amenities of a big city, like great restaurants and live music.

  14. Dr Sheppard was great - really treated me with integrity and took time to hear my concerns. He asked a lot of good questions to be sure he understood what brought me in to see him. I would happily return to see him again if needed and if my regular doctor was not available. His tech, Eric, also did a great job making sure I was comfortable and was aware of my right to have a chaperone should I feel the need for one.

  21. Annual exam with Dr Sheppard. He listened to my concerns and responded in a caring and professional manner. He offered me options for further exploration and possible treatments, explaining each in detail. He was patient and knowledgeable in his interactions.

  23. Dr Sheppard clearly had reviewed my history. This visit was routine annual checkup. He made sure to check on past concerns as well complete the checkup.

I made my appointment about a separate issue, but at my appointment I told him about some mental health issues I've been having, and despite not being told in advance about them, he was very prepared to deal with the situation. My appointment ended up going over time, but he was still really kind and patient with me and I never felt rushed. It was a good experience despite opening up about some painful things, and I felt like I could trust him.
