About me

Micah Bates, P.A.-C. joined the OHSU Neurosurgery Department in 2012 and initially worked with surgical spine patients both pre- and post-operatively. He is currently working in the Non-operative Spine Clinic with a focus on patient evaluation, conservative care and education. 

In his free time he enjoys spending quality time with his wife and two children. When time permits, he is happiest hiking and backpacking in the Oregon and Washington wilderness. Otherwise, he makes do with running and biking in the Portland area.

Like most patients who don't have a medical background some of the medical terms fly over our heads but I was able to grasp his explanations . He did great . When he interviewed me the question of pain level came up and I was having little to no pain at that moment . Today is a different story , I'm struggling quite a bit . About an 8 on a scale of 10 at certain times . Lower back and down both legs , when this happens I feel like these are the times when my legs could give out . Getting out of bed was slow and painful .So we are at a point where I just have to live with the situation I guess . I thanked we discussed a steroid shot but didn't, think that was an option . I'm whinging sorry . I am looking forward to ongoing care and help from OHSU , all of you are working and trying hard . Thank you

  29. Micah was VERY good with his initial care of me. What I saw change was near the end of my visit - Micah left the room quite fast without informing me that we were done/indicating a "goodbye"/communicating that the visit was over. It was as though he were running to get away from me...which was VERY confusing. I am guessing he was late for another appointment, but even that can be communicated. :(
