Insurance

Before scheduling an appointment

  1. Check your network. If you have health insurance,  call your company to find out if the OHSU Health location or provider you plan to visit is part of your network.
  2. Ask what you will pay. Your insurance company can tell you what your costs are likely to be.

If you schedule an appointment and your health insurance does not include OHSU Health, you may have to pay more than if you go to a provider in your insurance network.

Visit our billing and insurance page for more information.

Ratings and reviews

Overall: 4.2 out of 5 (170 Ratings, 59 Reviews)

The patient ratings score is an average of all responses to the question "How likely would you be to recommend this provider to your family and friends (on a scale of 0 to 10)" on our nationally-recognized NRC patient surveys.

  1. The doctor explained well why he was making a recommendation to confer with the Dental College. Nothing was recommended for pain.

  2. I would not recommend to this surgeon provider. He was judge mental, showing more concern why my other doctor "dropped me" as he put it. It was a change in insurance I relayed, he continued and when I brought up past care, he told me to go back to my past provider . I would as he was rude and shows no concern for the growth of my tumor or providing me with any explanation. I know no more about my health after this appointment than I did going in. He left the room. Left the door open, did not tell me to wait or what next so I sat astonished for a moment and left.

  3. I was informed of my condition as far as the most updated images and test could be interpreted. More imaging was ordered and a follow up will be scheduled

  4. Everyone was friendly, appropriately concerned an professional

  5. Great experience! II appreciated the information provided at the appointment.

  6. I would highly recommend Kim virtual to anyone

  7. Extremely good!! Very knowledgable of course, great bedside manor!! Especially for a surgen. Just plain great in every way!

  8. Dr Burciel was very thorough in his inquiry as to me 40 years of Trigeminalneuralgia. I'm so looking forward to seeing him again for my procedure.

  9. We had a very positive experience. Thank you!

  10. Felt like provider wanted to give me the run around to get the treatment I require.

  11. Very possitive

  12. I appreciated that he spent less time explaining my condition to me than the last two times I was there and got to fixing the issue faster. I also enjoyed his dry sense of humor.

  13. I feel extremely fortunate to have been matched with Dr. Burchiel (wow!) and I know that I'm in the very best of hands.

  14. I traveled 100 miles for an 11 minute visit. The physician never looked at the paperwork I'd filled out, did a less than 4 minute evaluation of my upper body strength, asked maybe 3 questions that I wasn't allowed to answer fully then announced that I needed to return for diagnostic tests. (He did check to see if I could do them yesterday, but the department was booked.). The resident, who came in a few minutes before the doctor, started asking questions but did not listen to my answers, then summarized them to the doctor incorrectly. I'd forgotten how abrupt neurosurgeons can be.

  15. A+.

  16. Dr came off as arrogant and condescending

  17. I wasn't impressed this visit except my nurse he was great. The Dr came in was nice but I wasn't asked if the 2 other students could be in the room. Wichbibwouldnt have a problem with bit to be asked is nice. And then I drive 3.5 hours to get there for nothing. I was referred by a ohsu spine specialist for this and then drove all the way when I didn't have much time to have it be a wast if time and my records needed to be looked at to see if I was even qualified for this appt. And I really wasn't eligible. So I spend a 7 hrs sitting in a car wich cases pain in my spine. Butt and legs. Let alone my high anxiety. It wasn't worth it. I could of been told that this procedure wasn't an option over the phone.

  18. Excellent

  19. Dr Burshell and his group listened to my frustration with the current spinal cord stimulator and its function! They involved me in the formulation of a plan to improve my quality of life!

  20. All was very good

  21. He was super informative and helped me in ways that no other doctor has. He made me feel like I was finally in the right place in regards to my health.

  22. Outstanding!!

  23. Dr Burchiel and team were absolutely amazing towards me as the patient and my family. I cannot begin to express my gratitude.

  24. Dr. Burchiel and his fellow, were very attentive and helpful while we talked about my condition.

  25. While teaching his resident, Dr. Burchiel also talked to me in laymen's terms so I could understand. I received excellent care.

  26. My appointment was flawless and very detailed

  27. /Very comfortable; any time a surgeon recmmends no surgery is a good day

  28. Dr. Burchiel is one of the top neurosurgeons in the country. He is also considerate and listens to patients.

  29. Attentive, listening closely to my concerns & described symptoms. Efficient test & evaluation. Reviewed the appropriate next steps.

  30. He was wonderful, and his staff was also,
