Join the 2023 Casey Classic!

Now that the Tour de France is over, and the Vuelta a España is still weeks away, the cycling world turns its attention to the Casey Classic! Yes, this one-day ride is just the medicine to fill the gap between the two major Tours in the cycling calendar.

The Casey Classic is a fun(d) raising cycling event to support the Casey Community Outreach Program. It is open to all Casey Team Members and friends. A cycling “Classic” is a one-day ride, and this one offers several routes through the beautiful Columbia River Gorge. Thank you so Joe and Patricia Robertson for making their home in Rowena available to the Casey Classic group.

This year’s ride is inspired by last year’s ride, but instead will head East instead of West.

When: Saturday, August 19, 2023
Time: Ride times are flexible between 9 a.m. – 6 p.m., depending on your desired ride length.
Food: Brunch (starting at 10 a.m.) – coffee and pastries at Lewis and Clark State Park and at Patricia and Joe Robertson's house in Rowena, OR
Lunch – BYOB (bring your own bar). Snacks available at shuttle and Joe and Patricia’s.
Dinner Celebration (6-8 p.m.) – at the Robertson's house in Rowena, OR.

How can I participate?

Everyone is invited to join in this event! There are many ways you can participate:

- The Full Monty
This ride starts at Lewis and Clark State Park at 9 a.m., and ends at Joe and Patricia Robertson's house in Rowena, Oregon. For those of you who did not enjoy the 6-mile-long sprint on I-84 last year (and really, who did?), we will be running a shuttle from Viento State Park to the Hatfield Scenic Trail in Hood River. The shuttle will be available from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., so plan your riding accordingly. Also, be sure to pause your Strava!

- The Brunch Bunch
For you contrarians, this out and back route starts at Joe and Patricia Robertson's house in Rowena, OR (arrive no earlier than 10 a.m.). Go as far West toward Hood River as you like, and then return.

- Customize Me
Of course, you can start anywhere on the route you want, and still party at Joe and Patricia Robertson's in Rowena! Just bear in mind that if you need the shuttle, it will only be available from 2-4 p.m.

- Socialize Me
Oh yeah, that’s right, you do not even have to ride, you can show up just for food and fun at Joe and Patricia’s!

- Transportation
Some of you are already thinking, after I ride to Joe and Patricia’s, how am I going to get back? Yep, that is a problem, and it is your problem. We suggest bringing a friend who just wants to socialize, and better yet, volunteer to be a shuttle driver from 2-4 p.m.
