Course details

This Grand Rounds course is part of a series on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. It was developed in partnership with the Casey Advancement of Diversity and Inclusion in Ophthalmology (CADIO) committee and Casey Eye Institute's Diversity, Equity and Inclusion program.

Target audience: Ophthalmologists, optometrists, ophthalmologists in training, health care providers.

Learning objectives

  1. Develop general knowledge about patient-centered care for people with disabilities.
  2. Demonstrate attitudes that promote patient and provider communication and solutions for barriers to eye care for people with disabilities.
  3. Understand the social model of disabilities and how it can support improved access to eye care for patients with disabilities.
