In the Department of Radiation Medicine, we train our residents to become brilliant radiation oncologists and expert medical physicists. They are equipped with the knowledge and skills to build fulfilling careers as clinicians, educators, researchers, and advocates.
OHSU is a community of healers dedicated to saving lives and ensuring the well-being of all entrusted to our care. OHSU's GME has directed all residency and fellowship programs to employ virtual practices for recruitment activities. We believe this approach will attract a diverse pool of applicants, decrease applicant financial barriers, and minimize applicant’s time away from educational and clinical activities while reducing the carbon footprint of recruitment.

In January 1967, the University of Oregon Medical School established the Department of Radiation Therapy, making it the first independent radiation oncology department at a medical school in the United States. The department changed its name from the Department of Radiation Therapy to the Department of Radiation Oncology in the 1980s and officially became the Department of Radiation Medicine in 2006.
