Residency Application and Interviews

For the 2025–2026 recruitment cycle, the Therapeutic Medical Physics Residency Program will include two interview stages: virtual interviews with a faculty panel in January 2026, followed by in-person interviews in February and March 2026.

Please note: An OHSU-specific letter of interest is required to be considered for an interview.

APD with residents 2023

To apply to the Therapeutic Medical Physics Residency Program, a solid background in basic physics is required. This can be demonstrated by holding a degree in physics, or a degree in engineering or another physical science, provided that sufficient physics coursework has been completed—approximately the equivalent of a minor in physics.

In addition, residents may enter any medical physics residency educational program if they have successfully completed either:

  1. CAMPEP-accredited MS or PhD graduate program, or  
  2. a CAMPEP-accredited certificate program.

OHSU's Medical Physics Residency Program participates in the MedPhys Match and will begin accepting applications on October 7

For the 2025-2026 recruitment season, for a resident starting on July 1, 2026, the OHSU Therapeutic Medical Physics Residency Program will participate in the MedPhys Match. The application deadline is December 1, 2025.

HOW TO APPLY:

  1.      Register with Medical Physics Matching Program (MedPhys Match)  
  2.      Submit an application via 2026 MedPhys Match by December 1, 2025
  3.      Send an OHSU specific letter of interest to RadMedEd@ohsu.edu (required)

Applicants must have valid U.S. work authorization for the duration of the residency, this may include F-1 OPT (if eligible), a TN visa, or an E-3 visa. Alternatively, you may have other work authorization, such as J-1 Academic Training, or can obtain work authorization on your own.

A completed 2026 MedPhys Match application includes the following:

  • Personal Information (name, address, contact information)
  • Personal Statement
  • Current CV (within 6 months and should include awards, publications and presentations)
  • Official Transcripts
  • TOEFL Score Report (if applicable)
  • American Board of Radiology certification status
  • Reference Letters

For the 2025–2026 recruitment cycle, the Therapeutic Medical Physics Residency Program will include two interview stages: virtual interviews with a faculty panel in January 2026, followed by in-person interviews with Radiation Medicine faculty and staff in March 2026.

Virtual interviews will be conducted via WebEx in January 2026. Candidates will participate in a 20‑minute technical interview with the Admissions Committee. Interview times will be scheduled individually.

In-person interviews will be held at OHSU in Portland, Oregon. Prior to the interviews, candidates will give a short presentation (eight minutes plus two minutes for questions) on a topic of their choice. Faculty interviews will follow, with each interview will be 15 minutes and conducted by panels of two faculty physicists.
