- Family Nurse Practitioner, American Academy of Nurse Practitioners
Andrea works in palliative care, a specialty that focuses on symptom management, quality of life and advance care planning for those with serious diseases such as cancer and heart failure.
Prior to becoming a nurse practitioner, Andrea worked as a registered nurse in oncology at OHSU. During this time, she developed a special interest in palliative care and sought additional training in this area. Andrea eventually became a nurse practitioner. When the opportunity to work in palliative care arose, she seized it because she had experienced the positive impact palliative care could have on the lives of people facing serious illness, and she wanted to help patients and their families as they faced this difficult time.
When she isn’t at work, Andrea enjoys spending time with her husband and daughter. Most of her free time is spent chasing her toddler. When she’s not doing that, Andrea enjoys cooking, baking, reading and dance.Read more

Andrea Gepner is my guardian angel. She has been my partner in my leukemia diagnosis. Simply stated, she CARES. She is kind, she listens, she is empathetic and above all, she wants me to be well. She even gave up her personal time to attend my oncology/hematology appointment as I had some nerves about interacting with that doctor. Who does that? Nurse Gepner, is the answer. She is a gigantic asset to your organization, and she's my Florence Nightingale. Thank you for such a brilliant experience, OHSU. I feel privileged to be your patient.
