Portrait of Jianya Huan, Ph.D.

Jianya Huan received his Ph.D. in Toxicology from Oregon State University. He did his postdoctoral training at OHSU with Dr. Koop (biochemistry) and Drs. Burrows/Vandenbark (Immunology). Dr. Huan worked as a Research Assistant Professor in the department of Neurology where he studied the regulation of antigen specific TCR in autoimmune diseases (multiple sclerosis and rheumatoid arthritis) and received multiple grants from the NIH as well as private foundations for his studies. Dr. Huan then focused his interests in cancer biology and studied the role of hematopoietic stem cells in childhood hematopoietic disorders. He also studied epigenetic regulation on pediatric brain tumors. Dr. Huan recently joined the Hansel lab and continues his research interests in cancer biology. His studies will focus on the regulatory role of mTOR pathway in the tumorigenesis of bladder cancer.
