As Oregon’s only academic health center, OHSU's leading edge research and discoveries are advancing all types of bone and joint care. The latest treatments are often available here first because our experts help develop them. And since our specialists are training tomorrow’s orthopaedists, they are experts in the most up-to-date therapies and technology. We offer a full range of bone and joint services. OHSU’s Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation team has the skill and experience to help with nearly any condition or illness in children and adults.
Jung Yoo, M.D. of the Department of Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation, OHSU School of Medicine, stepped down as chair after 16 years. During his tenure as chair from 2004 to 2020, Dr. Yoo helped change the face of musculoskeletal medicine in Oregon. He developed a small department into a leading force at OHSU, fulfilling all the facets of a successful academic practice. As chair, he assembled a faculty that provides high quality care and is devoted to patients, education and research. While Dr. Yoo will be moving on from the responsibilities of the department chair, he will be returning with greater devotion to his surgical practice and teaching.
Darin Friess, M.D., associate professor and former vice chair of orthopaedics, took on the role of interim chair on Oct. 1, 2020.
