Elimination Disorders

Step Clinic (step up to elimination problems)

Our clinic is the only clinic in Oregon that focuses exclusively on elimination disorders in children.

Encopresis (fecal incontinence) is an elimination disorder that involves repeatedly having bowel movements in inappropriate places after the age when bowel control is normally expected.

Enuresis is an elimination disorder that involves release of urine into bedding, clothing or other inappropriate places. This can occur during the day (diurnal) or at night (nocturnal).

Both conditions can be frustrating for children as well as their parents or caregivers. We can offer answers and help.

Comprehensive evaluation

We offer state-of-the-art urodynamic testing in the only pediatric video-urodynamics suite in the state of Oregon. We perform pelvic floor EMG testing and innovative biofeedback training to improve your child’s control.

We focus on techniques to retrain your child toward a more healthy style of elimination. Depending on your child’s diagnosis, treatment might also include medication or retraining tools.

In most cases, encopresis and enuresis are treatable and curable. Your child will build confidence and new skills as he or she takes steps to master bowel and/or bladder control.
