Andreas received his PhD degree from the Vienna University of Technology and held research appointments at the University of California at Berkeley, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the Rijksuniversiteit Gent. His research interests include cerebral hemodynamics and metabolism. He is active in the design of intrathecal drug delivery systems for the brain. He has served as a panelist for NIH, NSF, NASA and EPA. He has authored more than 170 peer reviewed publications and a dozen book chapters. His work has won best paper awards including the Wiederhelm Award in Microcirculation, European Stroke Conference, Computers and Chemical Engineering Journal, and the International Anesthesia Research Society.
