Objective and Credit

We are committed to creating an environment of inter-professional and interdisciplinary learning.

The overall goal of this activity is to provide an online continuing education update for clinical informatics and health information technology (HIT) professionals. The intended audience is those who have a clinical focus on clinical informatics and desire to learn more about the application of data analytics to clinical settings. The primary objective of the activity is to allow clinical informaticists to learn about recent advances in their professional domain in order to be more effective.

The course is open to all healthcare professionals and health informatics/IT professionals. Physicians are able to obtain 8 continuing medical education (CME) credits through OHSU. For physicians certified in the new Clinical Informatics Subspecialty, Lifelong Learning and Self-Assessment (LLSA) credits towards American Board of Preventive Medicine (ABPM) Maintenance of Certification Part II (MOC-II) requirements for the subspecialty will also be available.

We are not able to offer OHSU academic credit for the course.

Activity Details

This asynchronous learning opportunity includes  presentations by OHSU Division of Informatics, Clinical Epidemiology, and Translational Data Science faculty that focus on recent developments in the field. All course activity will be hosted on the Brightspace learning management system (LMS) as enduring learning material. Once learners enroll in the activity, they will get access to a Brightspace account and be able to complete course activities and evaluations at their own pace up to December 31, 2027 when the course expires. 

The learning activity consists of eight online modules that are estimated to take a total of 8 hours to complete. Within the Brightspace LMS, each module will provide an overview of learning objectives, one or more lecture segments (in a format viewable on both computers and mobile devices), optional additional materials, and a self-assessment quiz of 5-10 multiple-choice questions.

Registration and enrollment

Registration for the course opens on October 15, 2026.  Registration in the 2026 Annual Update in Clinical Informatics grants you access to materials through December 21, 2027. The course must be completed by that date to receive Certificates of Completion and/or CMEs.

Registration is a two-step process: learners will first register or pay based on their OHSU affiliation. Then, participants will be sent login information to the OHSU Brightspace Learning Management System (LMS). After completing all of the modules and the self-assessment quizzes, each participant will need to complete the evaluation form, and will then be sent a PDF Certificate of Completion via email.

Your registration is not complete until payment for the course is submitted. You will be directed to pay for the course once you submit your registration form.
