Diversity Resources
The resources below are intended for faculty, learners, staff and administration.
Outdated Medical Terminology
The Outdated Medical Terminology Guide is intended for information-gathering of medical terminology or jargon that is perceived to be outdated, biased, or inappropriate, in support of curricular improvement. It was created by medical students for medical students, educators and providers.
The tool provides input regarding language used describing race, gender, disability, culture, and other indicators (including the social determinants of health) in the M.D. Program at OHSU's School of Medicine. The goal is to increase knowledge and respect for language use.
Submissions will be reviewed quarterly in aggregate by the Associate Dean of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and Equity and Justice Subcommittee (EJS) of the UME Curriculum Committee (UMECC) and shared with the UMECC at regular intervals.
