About me

Kael has been with OHSU since 2011. After completing his medical assisting externship, he started his career at OHSU’s Vascular Surgery. A few months later, he transferred to Richmond Clinic, where he stayed for nine years. He has worn many hats during his time at Richmond Clinic. His responsibilities included supporting providers’ patient panels, he was the lead MA in the lab, and he also supported the weekly primary care dedicated THP Trans Clinic.

In his role as Patient Navigator with the Transgender Health Program, Kael receives and processes all incoming requests through phone, email, and website-based service requests. Kael assists those who are wishing to establish care and those who contact the THP on behalf of those who are entering or moving through the healthcare system. Kael also supports scheduling and insurance related activities for the THP Psychology and Social Work practices.

When he is not working at OHSU, Kael volunteers as a facilitator for the Health Equity and Social Justice (HESJ) Committee at OHSU and during the pandemic as a community health liaison for Filipinxs affected by COVID-19.

Kael enjoys photography, traveling, hiking and backpacking, and being a homebody.

Before scheduling your appointment, we recommend you contact your insurance company to verify that the OHSU Health location or provider you plan to visit is included in your network. Your insurance company will also be able to inform you of any copayments, co–insurance, or deductibles that will be your responsibility. If you proceed in scheduling an appointment and your health insurance benefits do not participate with OHSU providers, your out of pocket liability may be higher.
