Seminar Description
This widely acclaimed seminar comprehensively addresses both practical and conceptual aspects important to the proposal writing process. Emphasis is given to idea development, identification of the most appropriate granting agency, how to write for reviewers, and tips and strategies of proven value in presenting an applicant's case to reviewers.
Participants are taught to write with a linear progression of logic, which leads the reviewers through their applications. It is stressed that applicants are writing for two audiences: the assigned reviewers who have read the proposal in its entirety, and non-assigned reviewers who have read little or none of the proposal before the review panel meets. Strategies, tools, and tips designed to merit a fundable priority score are emphasized.
All participants receive an extensive handout and a hard copy of the NIH Grant Application Writer's Workbook. Coffee and lunch provided.
Who should attend and why:
- Faculty, postdoctoral researchers, and students planning to write a competitive extramural funding in the next two years
- Appropriate for individuals with lesser grant writing experiences and is a good refresher for those with more extensive experience
- While targeted toward NIH, principles are appropriate for applicants to other agencies
Cost: $95
*Payments to be made in 2026 through personal card or OHSU account.
