Meet Our Recent Fellows

Kahley Stanco

Kahley Stanco, DO

I was born and raised on Long Island, NY where as an only child I became extremely close to my parents and at a young age became comfortable around adults, listening to their stories about life and its challenges. We relocated to Virginia where I attended college at VCU in Richmond and medical school at Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine in Blacksburg. I decided to trade the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains for the impressive Cascades of Oregon where I completed my Internal Medicine Residency here at OHSU. I developed a deep appreciation and admiration for the geriatric patients I had the opportunity to care for in my VA clinic along with our amazing faculty. I knew I wanted to stay and work alongside some of the most wonderful mentors and now colleagues in the OHSU Geriatric Department. Outside of medicine, I love to hike and explore Oregon with my partner Andrew and our Golden Retriever Romeo, attend hot yoga classes, and play the harp and tennis.

Mary Brooks

Mary Brooks, MD

I am a Vermont native who ventured west to UC San Diego for residency after slowly working my way down the East coast, and ultimately to Portland, OR where I was hired as an assistant professor in the OHSU Division of Hospital Medicine in 2021.  I am passionate about medical education and working with learners at all levels, as well as transitions of care and how we can best treat our older, vulnerable populations both in and out of the hospital.  I am excited to be joining the geriatrics fellowship at OHSU, and hope to continue my work in caring for older adults in the inpatient and outpatient settings, including the post-acute care world.  In my free time I enjoy immersing myself in the beauty of the Pacific Northwest through hiking, camping, backpacking, and snowboarding.

Arisa Takeuchi, MD

Arisa Takeuchi, MD

I was born and raised in Japan and completed medical school and initial clinical training there before moving to the U.S. in 2018 as part of the Family Medicine residency program at OHSU. Coming from a country with the largest older adult population in the world, I have always felt the need for strong geriatric medicine. I chose OHSU's fellowship program given the opportunity to work in different clinical settings, and good balance between inpatient and outpatient services. Additionally, Portland is a beautiful city that offers multiple outdoor activities. Outside of work, I enjoy cooking, running, playing the flute, and traveling.
