Shubeena is on the Patent team where she evaluates OHSU technologies, conducts patentability assessment, and draft/prosecutes patent applications in life science and medical device technologies.  She collaborates with the internal Patent team, research investigators, and outside counsel in order to protect biotechnology inventions.

Previously, Shubeena worked as a patent scientist at various IP law firms for five years in Portland, OR and also as a technology transfer intern at OHSU which helped her develop a keen understanding of how to protect valuable business assets.  This followed her OHSU neurobiology research associate work, where she led projects associated with biomarkers for Alzheimer's disease, and postdoctoral research work focusing on virology at Penn State University.  Shubeena obtained her Ph.D. in biochemistry  from University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences.  During her years as a researcher, she published a number of peer-reviewed journal articles.  She is also registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.

Shubeena enjoys spending her free time with her family and traveling.
