2024 Research Week OHSU

Innovation Day will be held on May 9, 2024, as a part of OHSU Research Week. The day will feature up-and-coming innovative OHSU technologies, startups and panel discussions on topics of commercialization and entrepreneurship.  The majority of the day's programming will be held virtually, followed by an in-person career panel for early-career members in the afternoon.

Registration for the event will open in March 2024. Check back then and we hope to see you there!

Dr. Huang is the director of research at the Casey Eye Institute, and the co-inventor of optical coherence tomography (OCT).  OCT has revolutionized clinical ophthalmology by allowing clinicians to better diagnose and treat multiple eye disorders.  One OCT procedure is now estimated to be performed every second. Join this keynote to hear more about Huang’s incredible journey as serial inventor and startup founder.

A showcase of innovative science happening at OHSU covering the spectrum of the innovation process, including industry collaboration, early stage technology development and startup company formation.

1 PM - Marketing your science to industry

Tailor your scientific pitch for industry audiences with tips and tricks from our panelists. Learn directly from industry experts what they are looking for and what mistakes to avoid when seeking industry collaborations.

4 PM - Careers in venture capital and scientific startups

This in-person panel will discuss careers in venture capital (VC) and scientific start-up companies. These two career paths are intertwined, with VC offering private equity financing for early-stage and high-potential startups in exchange for equity ownership.
