The ALM Core has a number of different imaging setups that excel at different applications. Below is an overview of instruments located on Marquam Hill in LBRB.
Laser Scanning Confocals
Our laser-scanning confocal microscopes are equipped with objectives that have high numerical apertures for optimal multi-color imaging and optical sectioning.
Zeiss LSM 980 with Airyscan 2. Laser scanning confocal microscope with 3-channel spectral detector for maximum flexibility in emission wavelength selection. The system also features the new Airyscan 2 detector with 4Y mode for faster high resolution imaging.
Zeiss LSM 900 with Airyscan 2. Laser scanning confocal microscope on an inverted stand with variable beam splitter dichroics for maximum flexibility in detection and the new Airyscan 2 detector with 4Y mode for faster high resolution imaging.
Spinning Disk Confocal
Yokogawa CSU-W1 on a Nikon TiE. Spinning disk confocal on an inverted stand with high-content analysis (HCA) capabilities. Spinning disk confocal microscopy outperforms laser-scanning microscopy for live-cell imaging. This setup accepts mutli-well plates for image-based screening assays.
High Resolution Widefield
Delta Vision widefield scope for deconvolution. Image restoration microscope on an inverted stand that excels in high resolution results over conventional confocal microscopy for thin, sparsely, and dimly labeled specimens.
Zeiss ApoTome.2 on an Axio Imager. Our most economical solution for imaging fluorescence and colorimetric stains. System is on an upright stand and uses ApoTome.2 for grid based optical sectioning and a color camera for high resolution color imaging.
Super Resolution Microscopy
Zeiss Elyra 7 with lattice SIM. The Elyra 7 is Zeiss' new and improved structured illumination system for super resolution imaging on an inverted.
Zeiss LSM 7MP for intravital microscopy. Multi-photon microscope on an upright imaging stand. This setup is designed for intravital imaging of live rodents.
Live Sample Imaging
Zeiss Cell Discoverer 7. Automated time lapse imaging of multi-well plates. Definite Focus 2 and Software Autofocus functions keep samples in focus over long periods of time.
Essen Biosciences IncuCyte ZOOM. Imaging device inside a tissue-culture incubator. Designed for following cell growth and differentiation over days, quantifying cell migration, and angiogenesis and neurite outgrowth over time.
