Endometrial Responses to GLP-1 Agonist Use and Bariatric Surgery

A woman in a bright pink shirt stands smiling with her arms on her hips.

What is this study about?

The purpose of this study is to understand the impact of GLP-1 agonist medication (used for weight loss, e.g., Wegovy, Zepbound) and bariatric surgery (weight loss surgery, e.g., gastric bypass) on the menstrual cycle. If you join, we will ask to take a small tissue sample from the lining of your uterus two times. We will also ask you to answer questions in a daily text message diary. Being in this study will take about 7 months.

During each study visit, we will:

  • Collect a sample of uterine lining
  • Do a blood draw
  • Ask about your health and any medicine you take

We are looking for people who:

  • Are 18 to 45 years old
  • Have regular periods
  • Have a Body Mass Index (BMI) over 30
  • Are already planning to start a GLP-1 agonist medication or to have bariatric surgery

You will be paid up to $1,035 for your time and travel.
