Healing Through Music at OHSU
Music is Medicine
OHSU Visitor’s and Volunteer’s (OVV) Healing Through Music Program allows musicians to play in various locations across OHSU’s Marquam Hill, Doernbecher Children’s Hospital, and South Waterfront locations. Our musicians play gentle, ambient music to provide comfort, connection, and joy in our healthcare spaces.
Music is medicine: it has the power to transform a space, brighten a difficult day, and improve the mood of guests and patients. To expand and reach more patients and visitors, OVV is seeking altruistic musicians who can play gentle, ambient music without vocals.
This opportunity is ideal for talented students seeking performance experience, professional musicians interested in giving back, and any musician who wants to share their gifts in a way that supports the OHSU community. Choose from a fixed weekly scheduled time slot or opt for the opportunity to drop in when you are able (or both!). Weekly fixed time slots have a 6 months and 26 shift commitment.
Ready to join us? Please apply today - open webpage! To expedite the process, please begin to prepare or gather your digital audition of at least two samples of the kind of music you would choose to play at OHSU. You will be asked to provide this early in the application process.
Not a musician? Help spread the word! If you know someone who would be a great fit, please encourage them to connect with OVV by filling out an application or emailing ovv@ohsu.edu with additional questions.
