NOTE TO GRADUATE STUDENTS:

MMI graduate students are expected to present their research project in poster format during the poster session. We will be setting up posters the evening of September 20th. As seen on the above schedule, the poster session will be from: 5:00pm – 7:00pm Saturday, September 21st. Posters will stay up for the entirety of the day but will be taken down after dinner that evening. Please send the title of your poster to Molly Brown by August 29th, 2019.

  • Retreat begins at 5:00pm September 20th
  • Dinner and poster set-up, 7:00pm – 9:00pm 
  • If you are presenting a poster, please arrive in time to put your poster up.
  • Poster Session, 5:00pm – 7:00pm September 21st
  • Dinner and poster take down 7:00pm – 9:00pm September 21st
  • Retreat ends at 11:15am September 22nd

Presentations

Presentations should be no longer than 15 minutes with a 5 minute Q&A to follow. A strict adherence to this will be followed. 

All slides should be submitted as PowerPoint files. You can upload these to our 2019 MMI Retreat Presentations Box folder by Monday, September 17th, to allow time for troubleshooting from the presentation computer. There are folders here named for each presenter. 
Any video or audio clips should be uploaded or embedded with the presentation. You may want to set these clips to play automatically or on slide advance (for use with remote). 

Posters

Maximum poster size is 3'x4’. Posters should be hung in The Orchid Ballroom Friday evening, September 20that the Oregon Garden Resort. Easels will be available. You are expected to present your poster during the entire poster session.

Guest speaker

Our guest speakers this year are Leigh Knodler, PhD and Julie Overbaugh, Ph.D. Dr. Knodler is an associate professor at Washington State University in the Paul G. Allen School for Global Animal Health. She will be speaker from 6:00pm – 7:00pm Friday, September 20th. Read more about Dr. Knodler’s research here.

Dr. Overbaugh is a professor at Fred Hutch in the Human Biology Division. She will be speaking from 4:00pm – 5:00pm Saturday, September 21st. Read more about Dr. Overbaugh’s research here.
