2018 Outstanding Physician Clinician in Diabetes Award
It is our pleasure to announce that Dr. Andrew J. Ahmann has been selected to receive the American Diabetes Association
(ADA) 2018 Outstanding Physician Clinician in Diabetes Award. This
annual award honors praiseworthy contributions to diabetes clinical
Dr. Ahmann is the founding director of OHSU Harold Schnitzer Diabetes Health Center and Professor of Medicine at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU). His national and local commitment to improving the care of people living with diabetes includes over thirty years of research, patient care, teaching and volunteerism.
His wide-ranging contributions to the diabetes community locally and nationally, include working as a volunteer physician at Chris Dudley Foundation Basketball Camp and Gales Creek Camp for Children with Type I Diabetes for over two decades, serving as president of the American Diabetes Association - Oregon & SW Washington Area Leadership Council and chairing the Oregon Diabetes Coalition. He was also the medical chair of the Oregon Diabetes Care Collaborative and has worked on national projects and research with the American Diabetes Association and National Institutes of Health (NIH).
Dr. Ahmann continues to research, teach, and provide exceptional care to his patients at OHSU.
