Gail Mandel participates in collaborative effort to reverse Rett Syndrome

Gail Mandel, PhD

For over ten years, Vollum senior scientist Gail Mandel has collaborated with fellow Rett Syndrome researchers Michael Greenberg at Harvard Medical School and Adrian Bird at University of Edinburgh, Scotland, to reshape scientific understanding of MeCP2 protein function as part of the MeCP2 Consortium. Even though the three labs are 6,000 miles apart, the researchers are united in the belief that understanding the normal role of MeCP2 is crucial to the successful development of therapies to treat Rett Syndrome and that by working collaboratively, they can accomplish that task much faster than working alone.
