Taking Charge of My Health Care

About the project

The Taking Charge of My Health Care project is a toolkit of resources and videos designed to provide health and health care advocacy education for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and those who support them. Support people can include family members, disability service providers, friends, and health care professionals.

The toolkit's 11 topics provide comprehensive information for people interested in advocating for their health care, exploring new topics, learning new skills, building confidence, and getting a better understanding of their rights and responsibilities. The toolkit is designed for self-paced learning or to be offered as a workshop.

This project was led by the Oregon Self-Advocacy Coalition in partnership with the Oregon Office on Disability and Health.
