Congratulations to Dr. Kamila Vagnerova, who provided an outstanding lecture on the use of scalp blocks for craniotomy patients within the session on “Regional Techniques for Neuroanesthesia and Neurocritical Care” at the recent 51st Annual Meeting of the Society for Neuroscience in Anesthesiology and Critical Care (SNACC) in Alexandria, VA. Dr. Ines Koerner, incoming President-Elect of SNACC, served as chair of the Annual Meeting Planning Committee that organized a future-focused meeting of cutting-edge science and practice-informing clinical topics.

Congratulations to Dr. Avital O’Glasser, who just published a book as one of the co-editors through the Women in Medicine Summit. The book is titled An Evolution of Empowerment: Voices of Women in Medicine and Their Allies, which reflects two years of cultivation and curation of the 70 empowered voices ultimately published in this very special anthology. 

Congratulations to Dr. Dayle Hodge for co-authorship of an editorial article entitled Physician-Scientists in Anesthesiology: The All Too Empty Pipeline published in this month’s edition of Anesthesia & Analgesia. The article's authors are the directors of the MD/PhD programs at the University of Pennsylvania and at Dr. Hodge’s alma mater Albert Einstein College of Medicine, as well as two recent alums from those programs who are in the anesthesiology clinician-scientist pipeline. It is a companion article to a feature in the Medical Education section: The Anesthesiology Physician-Scientist Pipeline: Current Status and Recommendations for Future Growth—An Initiative of the Anesthesia Research Council.There is also an accompanying infographic in this edition that references both articles: A Call to Action: The Physician-Scientist Pipeline.

Dr. Selva Baltan will be presenting at the OHSU Brain Institute Mild Traumatic Brain Injury (mTBI) Symposium 2023. The mTBI Symposium is an annual event that brings researchers and clinicians together to share innovations in research and in care for brain injury. Registration is currently open for the October 20-21, 2023, in-person symposiums that will be held at the OHSU Auditorium and Great Hall, Marquam Hill campus, Portland, OR.
