OSLER research award, pain treatment manuscript and residents’ conference

Yifan Xu

Several APOM residents presented their research at the annual Western Anesthesia Residents’ Conference. Dr. Yifan Xu won first prize in her oral presentation session for her project: Modulation Of Microvascular Blood Flow And Stroke Outcome Via Gpr39 in Mice. Dr. Xu has done some exemplary work as both a researcher and clinician-scientist track chief.

Congratulations to Dr. Jessica Hebert who was awarded the OSLER (Oregon Students Learn and Experience Research) TL1 award funded by NIH/NCATS. Dr. Hebert’s project uses a mouse model of rhabdomyolysis-induced acute kidney injury (AKI) to study its effects on fertility and pregnancy-related complications. She will be examining adult-onset renal and cardiovascular disease in the offspring of parents with a history of AKI. This project merges her previous studies in reproductive biology with new training in renal pathology under the mentorship of Dr. Michael Hutchens. Please join me in congratulating Dr. Hebert and Hutchens Lab.

Congratulations to Drs. James Carson and Kim Mauer. The Journal of Complementary and Alternative Medicine, which is the top-rated journal in this field, selected their most recent manuscript "Complementary and alternative medicine services at pain treatment clinics: a national survey of pain medicine specialists in the United States" as one of the best articles of the month. Congratulations!
