How to Apply to Nutrition, Dietetics and Food Systems Programs

Application requirements

Dietetic Internship (DI)

To apply, you need: 

  • A graduate degree, or be enrolled in a graduate degree program
  • To complete a Didactic Program in Dietetics (DPD)* or be on track to complete a DPD by the time the program starts
  • A GPA of 3.0 or higher

*A DPD is a set of undergraduate or graduate courses required before beginning a dietetic internship. Find a DPD in your area.  

How to apply: 

  • Create an online account through DICAS (Dietetic Internship Centralized Application Services) and select “OHSU Dietetic Internship Program”
  • Complete all sections of the DICAS application
  • Answer all OHSU-specific program questions
  • Submit three letters of recommendation (at least one from a DPD faculty member)
  • Submit a personal statement

Apply to the Dietetic Internship.

M.S. in Food Systems and Society

To apply, you need:

  • A bachelor’s degree in any field
  • A GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • U.S. citizen residing within the U.S.

How to apply:

  • Create an online account and select “Food Systems and Society”
  • Submit transcripts, a personal statement and two references
  • Answer application questions

Apply to the M.S. in Food Systems and Society program.

M.S. in Human Nutrition

To apply, you must:

  • Be a registered dietitian, have completed a Dietetic Internship, or be on track to complete one before the program starts
  • Have a GPA of 3.0 or higher

How to apply: 

  • Create an online account and select “MS Human Nutrition”
  • Submit transcripts, a personal statement and three letters of recommendation
  • Upload proof that you're a registered dietitian or have completed a Dietetic Internship

Apply to the M.S. in Human Nutrition program.

M.S. with a Dietetic Internship

To apply, you must have:

  • A bachelor’s degree in any field
  • To complete a Didactic Program in Dietetics (DPD)* or be on track to complete a DPD by the time the program starts
  • A GPA of 3.0 or higher

  • Submit a personal statement

Dietetic Internship (fall 2026 start)

  • Early admissions deadline (Oct. 5): 
    • Notification date: Nov. 1 
    • Applicant decision date: Nov. 15 
  • Final deadline (Jan. 15): 
    • Notification date: March 1 
    • Applicant decision date: March 15 

M.S. with a Dietetic Internship (summer 2026 start)

  • Notification date: On or before March 1 
  • Applicant decision date: March 15 
  • Ongoing enrollment (if space remains): March 15 to July 15 

Admissions information for international students

If you're an international student, you're eligible to apply to:

The M.S. in Food Systems and Society program and M.S. in Food Systems and Society with a Dietetic Internship are not open to international applicants. You must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident living in the United States to apply. 

Dietetic Internship requirements

To apply as an international student, you need:

  • A graduate degree from a U.S.-accredited school or foreign equivalent
  • A verification statement or declaration of intent from an ACEND-accredited Didactic Program in Dietetics (DPD) or Foreign Dietitian Education (FDE) program
  • A GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • If you do not have a graduate degree from a U.S.-accredited school or foreign equivalent then your TOEFL scores must meet these requirements: 600 paper-based, 250 computer-based or 100 internet-based; or IELTS 6.5

M.S. in Human Nutrition requirements

To apply for the M.S. in Human Nutrition program as an international student, you must be a Registered Dietitian (RD) or be a dietitian in Canada or the Philippines and have completed the registration process through the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR).

You must also:

  • Have a bachelor's degree from a U.S.-accredited school or foreign equivalent
  • Have a GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • If you do not have a bachelor's degree from a U.S.-accredited school or foreign equivalent then your TOEFL scores must meet these requirements: 600 paper-based, 250 computer-based or 100 internet-based; or IELTS 6.5

M.S. in Human Nutrition with a Dietetic Internship requirements

To apply as an international student, you need to:

  • Provide a verification statement or declaration of intent from an ACEND-accredited Didactic Program in Dietetics (DPD) or Foreign Dietitian Education (FDE) program
  • Have a bachelor's degree from a U.S.-accredited school or foreign equivalent
  • Have a GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • If you do not have a bachelor's degree from a U.S.-accredited school or foreign equivalent then your TOEFL scores must meet these requirements: 600 paper-based, 250 computer-based or 100 internet-based; or IELTS 6.5
