The Division of Cardiovascular Medicine at OHSU is a national leader in cardiovascular care, research and training. Our fellowships and training programs will prepare you to excel in your career.

Your training will occur within the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine and the Knight Cardiovascular Institute, where multidisciplinary teams treat all manner of cardiovascular disease. Your training will include:

Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship

Our three-year, ACGME-accredited Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship combines rigorous clinical training, structured curriculum and close mentorship across a wide variety of care settings to give you comprehensive preparation for modern cardiovascular practice.

Eligibility

You must be completing, or have completed, an ACGME-accredited internal medicine residency to be considered.

At OHSU, you can hone your expertise and prepare for board certification in a cardiovascular subspecialty. We offer accredited and non-accredited fellowships to fit your career goals.

ACGME-accredited fellowship programs

Adult Congenital Heart Disease Fellowship 2 years Specialized experience caring for underserved and complex patient populations; uniquely integrated training experience spanning childhood through adulthood
Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Fellowship 1 year Advanced training of all stages and forms of heart failure, pre- and post-operative care of heart transplant and ventricular assist device patients, and key diagnostic or therapeutic procedures
Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology Fellowship 2 years Advanced training in diagnostic and therapeutic electrophysiology studies; managing inpatients with disorders of cardiac rhythm; placement and management of electrophysiology devices; outpatient management of patients with heart rhythm disorders
Interventional Cardiology Fellowship 1 year State-of-the-art training in percutaneous coronary intervention procedures, complex coronary artery diagnostic procedures, and evaluating and managing patients with chronic or acute coronary artery disease

Advanced Cardiac Amyloidosis Fellowship 1 year Clinical care of patients with amyloid cardiomyopathy; clinical and/or basic research; understanding of pathophysiology
Advanced Imaging Fellowship 1 year Clinical skills in echocardiography, cardiac MRI, cardiac CT, and nuclear imaging
Sports Cardiology and Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy Fellowship 1 year Training in cardiopulmonary exercise testing, echocardiography and cardiac magnetic resonance imaging; research in sports cardiology and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy
Structural Heart Disease Fellowship 1 year Gain exposure to structural heart disease therapies, advanced intravascular and imaging technologies; participate in robust didactic, case-based, and research experiences

T32 Training in Translational Science and Cardiovascular Research

Our two-year Training in Translational Science and Cardiovascular Research program gives you rigorous training tailored to your career goals. The program accepts three fellows a year and is funded by the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute

Your training will focus on: 

  • Heart disease biology and genetic influence
  • Innovation
  • Leadership
  • Responsible research

You’ll work with the program director, the T32 administrator and at least three clinical and research mentors. Training includes state-of-the-art imaging such as MRI, PET, CT, angiography, ultrasound, OCT and two-photon microscopy.

To be eligible, you must: 

  • Have a graduate degree: M.D., D.O., Ph.D., D.V.M., Pharm.D., D.D.S., etc.
  • Be a U.S. citizen, noncitizen national or permanent resident of the U.S.
