  • Clinical Associate Professor of Radiation Medicine, School of Medicine

Biography

Dr. Sophia Bornstein is a radiation oncologist treating breast cancer and offering palliative radiation (all sites). Dr. Bornstein often uses heart-sparing techniques (prone, partial breast) and when appropriate provides shorter treatment courses, such as hypofractionated and ultra hypofractionated radiation therapy, which involve treatments given at a higher dose but spread over a shorter period of time, so that the total treatment dose remains the same.

Dr. Bornstein likes to make shared decisions with patients regarding their options, based on their values and beliefs. She provides state-of-the-art treatment aimed at preventing recurrence and minimizing side effects. She enjoys working in a multidisciplinary setting with surgeons, medical oncologists, social workers, radiologists and pathologists, as well as teaching residents and medical students.

Dr. Bornstein loves music and currently plays jazz piano. She enjoys traveling abroad, hiking, comedy and animals.
