For New Employees

Sunrise mountain

Welcome

Thank you for choosing a career at OHSU! The New Employee Orientation (NEO) team is thrilled to assist with your onboarding, in partnership with your manager and your department. We know that there is a lot to do before starting a new job and the list of resources below is curated to help you get started.

Please Note: Depending on your role, your onboarding process may take place remotely while OHSU is in Modified Operations. Please work with your manager to determine if/when you should plan to travel to campus.

Helpful tips

  • Complete your required paperwork.
    • Before traveling to campus, please do the following (tasks should be completed electronically in iCIMS, if available):
    • If you work outside the Portland metro area, email the Records Team  for information on completing the I-9 remotely.
  • Locate your work site, if traveling to campus, and get the latest travel updates.
  • Contact AAEO to learn about and request accommodations.
  • Review OHSU's employee benefit options.
  • Keep an eye on your email for any additional pre-hire tasks and communication.
  • Make sure to touch base with your manager before you travel to campus so you know when/if to arrive, where to go and what to bring with you on your first day.
  • Even though you may be working remotely, you will still need to come to Marquam Hill and complete the I-9 form in person if you live within the Portland metro area. I-9 preparers are available in Sam Jackson Hall, Suite 1102.
    • The HR Service Center (Sam Jackson Hall, Suite 1102) is open Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Friday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. to process new hires; please work with your manager or onboarding contact to schedule a time to travel to campus for required paperwork. I-9 completion is highly recommended for the first day of employment and is required within the first three days of employment.
  • Participate in New Employee Orientation (now self-paced and virtual). This training will be automatically assigned to you in OHSU's learning management system.
  • Plan to complete other mandatory education and obtain your OHSU ID badge (if traveling to campus).
  • Orient to your work space or work with your manager to secure any necessary supplies if working remotely.
  • Clarify attendance procedures and review performance expectations and objectives with your manager.
  • Gain access to OHSU’s internal networks and systems.
  • Enroll in benefits (if applicable) as soon as possible to ensure timely coverage.
