August 24 MIC session to explore pathways for improving Medicaid

Award-winning author Jamila Michener will expand the ways researchers and state officials think about, learn about and seek to improve Medicaid programs in the United States.

Even under the best circumstances, legislative policymaking processes and political landscapes are complex, slow-moving and difficult to navigate. Jamila Michener will ‘take the MIC’ on August 24 at the next session of the Medicaid Insights Colloquium. Michener will discuss the process of helping officials in multiple states to identify opportunities through administrative channels to implement changes in their Medicaid programs which affect immediate, equitable and dignity-enhancing improvements in the lives of enrollees.

Award-winning author of the book Fragmented Democracy: Medicaid, Federalism and Unequal Politics, Jamila Michener is an associate professor of Government and Public Policy at Cornell University, The senior associate dean for Public Engagement at the Brooks School of Public Policy, co-director of the Cornell Center for Health Equity, co-director of the Politics of Race, Immigration, Class and Ethnicity (PRICE) initiative, and board chair of the Cornell Prison Education Program.

The Medicaid Insights Colloquium is an ongoing bimonthly webinar series hosted by the OHSU Center for Health Systems Effectiveness. Sessions are free, but registration is required.
