Philip Stork and his colleagues use molecular and biochemical approaches to understand how hormones and growth factors convey signals from the cell membrane to the nucleus to induce cellular responses. They have shown that the two fundamental cellular responses, proliferation and differentiation, require distinct temporal sequences of shared signals.
