Hans VanDerSchaaf, Ph.D., M.P.A.

Hans VanDerSchaaf is inspired by work that harnesses innovation and human-centeredness to create meaningful changes in organizational performance and customer experiences.
He feels incredibly honored to work at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) in Portland, Oregon as an Innovation Program Director, where he champions OHSU Health’s mission to make care available to Oregonians anywhere, anytime. His work focuses on digital health, health system innovation and transformation, and innovation training and consulting. He's fortunate to work with amazing colleagues, where together they leverage human-centered design/design thinking to co-create healthcare delivery innovations that benefit patients, employees, organizations and communities.
Prior to joining OHSU, he led service and technology innovation work at Portland State University that focused on improving degree completion for first generation college students. He received a Ph.D. in Technology Management from the Engineering and Technology Management program at Portland State University, a Master of Public Administration from Portland State University, and a Bachelor of Science from Ithaca College.
Outside of work, he enjoys exploring the wilds of the Pacific Northwest with his family, friends and dogs.
