Dr. Bakis is board-certified in gastroenterology. After graduating from Brooklyn College, he received a medical degree from Albany Medical College and completed residency at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center. He completed Gastroenterology Fellowship Program at SUNY Buffalo and an Advanced Therapeutic Endoscopy Fellowship Program at Maine Medical Center. His areas of special interest are pancreaticobiliary medicine and the application of advanced diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy, including ERCP (a procedure for the examination or treatment of the bile ducts and pancreatic ducts that combines the use of X-rays and an endoscope), endoscopic ultrasound, deep enteroscopy, endoscopic mucosal resection and radiofrequency ablation.
