Find, Request and Borrow
OHSU students, staff and faculty: learn how to find what you need, request items we don’t have, borrow books and course materials, and return them on time.
If you’re not currently working or studying at OHSU, see services for community members.
Find
- Discover our books, articles, databases, software, and other useful collections on our Resources page.
Request
- Sign in to your library account to see request and delivery options for articles, books and more in Library Search.
- Can’t find it? Submit a request form, and we’ll try to get it for you from another library.
- You can also suggest a purchase.
Borrow
- OHSU students, staff, and faculty can usually borrow print books for 6 weeks. They'll also auto-renew: keep them until you’re done or someone else requests them.
- Books borrowed from other libraries have different loan periods. We’ll get the longest loan possible and let you know when your item arrives.
- High-demand items (like course textbooks) can only be borrowed for a short time, usually one day. Students are expected to buy their own required textbooks.
Return
- Return print items when you’re finished, or when someone else requests them. We’ll notify you when it’s time to bring them back. See book return options.
- No daily late fees, but if a book is more than 2 weeks overdue, we’ll charge the replacement cost.
- Need more time? Contact the Library: we’d rather get the book back than charge you! rather get the book back than charge you!
