The Office of International Affairs (OIA) supports OHSU's international community, programs, and activities. The OIA consists of two departments: the Department of Immigration Services and the Department of Export Controls.
Together these departments provide a full range of immigration advice and processing, learning opportunities, resource coordination, and transition support for international employees, postdocs, residents, students and visitors.
Alison Roache Jones, J.D.
Director, Department of Immigration Services
As Director, Alison leads the department in providing immigration advising and services for the entire OHSU community. Alison has been at OHSU providing immigration services since 2001. After graduating from Law School in 1997 she joined the Oregon Graduate Institute of Science & Technology (which merged with OHSU in 2001) and began her career in the field of immigration. She enjoys working with people from around the globe and keeping abreast of the continually changing immigration laws and regulations. Alison earned her BA in Political Science/International Relations in 1994 from Boise State University and her JD in 1997 from the University of Idaho. She was born in Germany and lived in the U.K. with her family for several years as a child to be closer to her mother's family in England. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her two children and husband traveling, camping, riding bikes, gardening, swimming and just hanging out together.
Immigration Specialist, Department of Immigration Services
As an Immigration Specialist in the Department of Immigration Services at OHSU, Lisa's main role is to prepare the immigration paperwork for OHSU's international employees, scholars and visitors. Lisa has been working in the immigration field for over 20 years, first as an Immigration Legal Secretary at a Portland law firm, and then beginning in 1998 as an Immigration Specialist at OHSU. Lisa lives in Tigard where she enjoys spending time with her husband and two children.
Export Controls Officer, Department of Export Controls
As the Export Controls Officer, Jen works to support community members in academics and research by ensuring compliance with federal regulations concerning international shipments and travel. She has been with OHSU since January 2015; her previous work over the last 10 years included compliance oversight and consulting for international shipping of hazardous and government-regulated materials. she lives in NE Portland with her husband and two dogs.
