Kavita Bhatnagar, MD

Dr. Kavita Bhatnagar grew up in Maryland. She completed her undergraduate degree in Public Health Studies at Johns Hopkins University, then went on to get her MD from University of Maryland Medical School. She is very interested in global health, and has spent several months working in India as well as interning with the WHO. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, kayaking, cooking and painting.

Matt Studer, MD

Dr. Matt Studer grew up in Albuquerque, NM. He completed his undergraduate degree in Biology with a concentration in Neuroscience at Washington University in St. Louis. After working a year in the private sector for a contract research organization, Dr. Studer headed down to Atlanta, GA to complete his medical degree at Emory University. He was fortunate to discover the field of Otolaryngology - Head & Neck Surgery early on, and became involved in various research projects with his mentors at Emory. Outside the hospital, Dr. Studer enjoys skiing, reading, eating moderately spicy food, live music, and visiting the coast.

Farshid Taghizadeh, MD

Dr. Farshid Taghizadeh was born and raised in Iran, where he studied and practiced physical therapy for a short time before moving to Turkey. After two years in beautiful Turkey, he moved to Portland, Oregon where he graduated in Molecular Biology and Chemistry from Portland State University. During his medial education at OHSU, he was introduced to Otolaryngology through basic science research in ototoxicity. Besides medicine and surgery, he enjoys cooking, fishing, the outdoors, and spending time with his wife and toddler.

Michael Dougherty, MD

Dr. Michael Dougherty grew up in Lexington, Kentucky.  He attended the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Virginia where he completed his undergraduate degree in Biology and was introduced to Otolaryngology through his work in a basic science laboratory focused on head and neck cancer.  He stayed at UVA to complete his medical education.  Outside of the hospital, he enjoys cooking, running, fly fishing, and college basketball.

Jeffrey Hyzer, MD

Dr. Jeffrey Hyzer was born and raised in Portland, Oregon. He completed his undergraduate degree in Biochemistry & Molecular Biology at Bellarmine University in Louisville, Kentucky, and then returned to Oregon to complete medical school at OHSU. Dr. Hyzer enjoys music, especially singing, downhill skiing, and traveling to visit family and friends throughout the United States and abroad.

Dr. Keven Seung Yong Ji was born in Seoul, Korea and grew up in Toronto, Canada. He graduated from University of Pennsylvania with a BA in Biology. He then received his MD and Master of Clinical Research degree at Duke University School of Medicine. In his free time, he enjoys running, lifting, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, the great outdoors and books.

Dr. Joanna Jacobs is originally from San Diego, California. They studied the intersection of art and medicine at Brown University as an undergraduate and then attended University of California San Francisco for medical school. They enjoy sculpture, hiking, good food, and good company.

Kristen Kraimer, MD

Dr. Kristen Kraimer grew up in Minneapolis, Minnesota and graduated from the University of Minnesota with her undergraduate degree in Neuroscience. She then attended Rush Medical College in Chicago, IL to complete her medical degree. In her time outside of the hospital, Dr. Kraimer enjoys spending time outdoors running or hiking, figure skating, and cheering on the Golden Gophers.

Vivek Pandrangi, MD

Dr. Vivek Pandrangi grew up in Southern California. He completed his undergraduate degree in Biology and Anthropology at Washington University in St. Louis, and went on to complete medical school at Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine. Dr. Pandrangi has been involved in research exploring the use of virtual reality in the medical field. He enjoys traveling, hiking, and listening to podcasts.

Emily Ahadizadeh, MD

Dr. Emily Ahadizadeh was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She attended the University of Oklahoma for her undergraduate degree in Biology and went on to complete her medical education at Case Western Reserve University. During this time, she published in the fields of forensic entomology and otolaryngology. Dr. Ahadizadeh loves to travel, as well as anything that takes her outdoors, especially running, hiking, figure skating, and rock climbing.

Gabriela Lilly, MD

Dr. Gabriela Lilly is originally from Bucharest, Romania, but grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area after moving to the United States at the age of 12. She completed her undergraduate studies at the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA), graduating with honors and a degree in Psychobiology. She then went on to attend the Keck School of Medicine of University of Southern California. There she completed medical school as well as a year-long Dean's Research Fellowship focusing on peripheral nerve regeneration. In her spare time, you are likely to find her running, hiking, skiing, and spending time outdoors with her husband.

Dr. Jeffrey Gu joined us from the University of California, Irvine School of Medicine, where he completed medical school and a masters degree in Biomedical and Translational Science. He completed his undergraduate degree in Integrative Biology at the University of California, Berkeley. During his spare me, Dr. Gu enjoys photography, music, judo, and hiking.

Tara Henn, MD

Dr. Tara Henn was born in Princeton, New Jersey. She attended Dartmouth College where she dual majored in Biology and Classical Studies, with a concentration in Greek archaeology. While in college, she swam butterfly for the women's varsity swim team. She later returned to New Jersey for medical school at Rutgers-Robert Wood Johnson. Dr. Henn enjoys visiting museums, hiking, kayaking, and playing tennis in her spare time.

Brian Scott, MD

Dr. Brian Scott graduated from Brigham Young University with a degree in Exercise Science. He spent 2 years volunteering in Spain, where he developed a love of education and the Spanish language. He went on to complete medical school at the University of Texas Southwestern. Dr. Scott has been involved in many research projects focusing on skin cancer and obstructive sleep apnea. When he is not at the hospital, you are likely to find him mountain biking, snowboarding, or exploring the many waterfalls of the Pacific Northwest.

Jennifer Wherley, MD

Dr. Jennifer Wherley was born and raised in Southern California. She received her undergraduate education in Physiological Sciences at University of California Los Angeles (UCLA). She remained at UCLA for her Masters degree in Microbiology, Immunology, and Molecular Genetics. Dr. Wherley then ventured up to Portland to attend medical school at OHSU and as stayed with the university since. In her time outside the hospital, she enjoys practicing yoga, running, and hiking with her husband and dog.
