Research Project Coordinator (Project Manager)

As an essential team member of the OHSU Brenden-Colson Center for Pancreatic Care, you will coordinate several important team research projects, under the supervision of our Scientific Program Manager.  The Center has recently joined a national consortium focused on the early detection of pancreatic cancer in patients who have high risk for developing it in their future.  This person will assist in coordinating this project (and others) with active management of expectations, timelines, and deliverables through facilitation and coordination of steps.  They will also work collaboratively with the Knight Community Outreach and Engagement team to assist with outreach initiatives associated with various projects, including participating in community events and improving community education and recruitment strategies for research subjects, particularly those from diverse and rural communities.  We are looking for someone who will provide a high level of customer service both internally (OHSU researchers, health providers and staff) and externally (collaborators, both academic and industry, and community members), with prompt and professional communication, familiarity with available information technology, flexibility to meet service needs and continuous process improvement. Prior experience in oncology and/or translational research preferred.  If you have a good understanding of the biomedical research field, strong organizational and communication skills, the ability to work effectively with a large team under minimal supervision, and are interested in managing multi-part/multi-phase scientific projects, consider joining Oregon’s pancreas research headquarters.

Required Qualifications:  Masters in relevant field AND 1 year of relevant experience OR Equivalent combination of training and experience; Proven strong analytical and computing skills; Proven responsiveness and accountability; Ability to juggle multiple tasks at once, to be flexible and to prioritize; Excellent oral and written communication skills; Proven time management skills; Proficiency with independent problem solving.  Preferred Qualifications:  PhD in life sciences field; 2 years' experience in biomedical research; Experience with collaborative projects.

PLEASE NOTE:  This position is not eligible for remote work.  We expect the employee to reside in the Portland area and to work on campus 100% for at least the first 3 months in the position; a hybrid work arrangement is possible after that.

Norton Fellowship in the Pancreatic Translational Sciences (Pancreatic Surgeon Research Training Fellowship)

The purpose of this two-year research fellowship is to train general surgery residents in translational research focusing on diseases that involve the pancreas. The ideal candidate would be a surgery resident in their second or third year of residency interested in a career as a surgeon-scientist with a translational research program focusing on diseases that involve the pancreas.  Fellowship provides salary and relocation expense reimbursement.  For details please request RFA from brendencolsoninfo@ohsu.edu
