Direct-to-patient services

Specialists across OHSU offer virtual, phone and other visit options that let your patient see us without the need to travel.

If your patient is recovering from a stroke or cardiac event, we offer virtual professional services like physical and occupational therapy.

If you refer your patient to OHSU for surgery, we offer virtual pre- and post-operation appointments in the comfort of their home or your clinic.

Live, two-way video visit with an OHSU provider. We are experts at virtual visits 30% of all OHSU clinical visits are now virtual.

We offer secure phone visits for patients who can’t do a virtual visit. These visits are often scheduled on the fly when providers need to quickly connect with a patient.

We offer patients medical advice for certain conditions without an appointment. They complete a secure online survey, attach any relevant photos, and get a response within three business days. One example is skin cancer screening to analyze moles.

We offer patients a complete care plan for certain conditions, such as COVID-19 or influenza. They complete a secure online survey and an OHSU provider will email a care plan, including a prescription if needed all without an appointment.

Provider-to-provider services

We offer these services through long-term partnerships only, not on-demand. If your clinic is interested in establishing a contract for any of these services, contact telemedicine@ohsu.edu.

Telemedicine outreach clinics

We partner with clinics across the region that let patients see an OHSU specialist via secure two-way video. These virtual visits are much richer at the clinic than at home, because on-site clinical staff can assist with any hands-on exam components or tests.

Study interpretation service

We partner with clinics and providers to review routine or urgent studies, including ultrasound, EEG and EKG. Our telemedicine team sets up a secure connection between clinics and our specialists to support two-way data communication.

eConsults

We offer rapid access to expertise from an OHSU specialist. Our specialists offer eConsults for primary care providers and for other specialists. OHSU providers can submit clinical questions, along with all appropriate medical information, and get advice or care recommendations within three business days.

This service supports you to continue to manage your patients, instead of referring them to an OHSU specialist. eConsults alleviate barriers to access like distance, wait time and specialty care shortages.

We currently support 700 eConsults each month in 32 specialty areas:
