Sexuality for All Abilities
Sexual Health and Healthy Relationships Education for Oregon High School Students with Disabilities Age 14-22
The University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (UCEDD) at OHSU is partnering with the Oregon Health Authority (OHA) to provide teacher training and support to Oregon school and community-based special education programs to teach skills that will promote sexual health and healthy relationships to high school-aged students with disabilities. Participants will receive training to facilitate Sexuality for All Abilities, a sexual health and relationships curriculum developed by Mad Hatter Wellness.
Sexuality for All Abilities is a holistic curriculum that allows for the delivery of inclusive sexuality education to people of all abilities. The training provides staff and caregivers with the tools to best support adolescents and young adults with disabilities learning about sexual health. The curriculum consists of a series of lessons designed to ensure people of all abilities successfully establish, maintain, and explore safe and healthy relationships. Using mindfulness techniques paired with sexuality topics, the lessons facilitate the exploration of topics in a safe environment. Two versions of the curriculum are available – regular and modified – to ensure that the course material is available to all students with diverse access needs.
Participants who access Sexuality for All Abilities through the UCEDD-OHA partnership program will receive training, curriculum, and financial support to implement Sexuality for All Abilities within high school special education programs.
